Forehead Lift Surgery and Blepharoplasty (eyelid tuck)

Not infrequently, a brow lift is combined with blepharoplasty (an eyelid tuck) or face lift to provide a harmonious rejuvenation. This procedure is usually done between age forty and sixty-five, although it may be necessary at an earlier age for those patients who start worrying about sagging brows, deep furrows between the eyes or deep lines across the forehead. It may also worry people with congenital angry or sad facial expression.

Generally (in most cases) the endoscopic forehead lifting is performed in conjunction with other rejuvenation surgeries: lower two-thirds face – lift, lower eyelid correction surgery, mid-face lifting. Conventional forehead surgery involves removing excess skin to elevate the eyebrows. Endoscopic procedures are aimed to restore the muscle balance in the forehead area. The position of the eyebrows is controlled by two groups of muscles: one that is responsible for lowering and the other that elevates them pulling the forehead skin upwards. With age the lowering muscle strength considerably prevails over the elevating muscle capability, causing eyebrow drooping, vertical and horizontal wrinkles of the upper nasal bridge and forehead areas. The endoscopic technique helps to separate the forehead and brows. This leads to smoothing out small wrinkles as well as lifting the eyebrow line.

The surgeon will perform the pre-operative marking of the face to indicate the changes. Endoscopic surgery is carried out through 4 vertical or horizontal incisions about 1 cm length made in the hair line and goes as far as 1-2 cm above it.
