Important Safety Information!

Botulotoxine A (Botox) application shows its effect on neuromuscular junctions by breaking nerve transmission. So, it creates temporary paralysis on muscle fibers. This effect of the Botulotoxine A can only be seen on the nerves moving muscles; it has no effect on touching, pain or feeling hot and cold. It does not cause a mask-like deadness or change the expression of the face. The Botulotoxine A injection treatment should be administered by a trained physician only when indicated. The blockage effect caused by medications that break neuromuscular interaction should be substituted by professional cosmetological care that provides proper skin nourishment and moistening.

Up to a certain age the frowning lines or the lines of laughter and other mimicry lines get resolved by themselves when the face is relaxed. After years of crinkling and wrinkling, those lines get deeper and more pronounced and permanent as the facial skin becomes more dehydrated and ptotic in general. In order to prevent the early wrinkles from forming, Botulotoxine A injections introduce a minute amount of the synthetic botulinum type-A toxin into the muscles to selectively block the muscles of expression. Everyone knows that the same medical substance can be a remedy in small dosage and poison in overdose. Small doses of Botulotoxine A have been used for decades to treat eye spasms, dystonia, cerebral palsy, and more recently, wrinkles. Recent studies have even found it to be helpful for migraine relief. Botulotoxine A has been used at clinic VIRTUS to improve hyperhidrosis of the underarms or hands (excessive sweating).

The medicine can temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines for up to 4 months. The wrinkles become shallower after the first application and they are less visible even after the regeneration and recovery of the muscle’s function, which takes 3 to 4 months.

Botulinum type-A toxin based substances have proved to be efficient alone and combined with surgical correction for the effects of ageing. In cases of excess skin and hard wrinkles it is recommended to perform plastic surgery to remove skin flaps with the following application of Botulotoxine A.

Contraindications:

Absolute:

Pregnancy;
Lactation;
Systemic autoimmune diseases;
State of immunodeficiency;
An unusual or allergic reaction to botulinum toxin, albumin, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives.

Relative:

Active allergic diseases;
Infectious and viral diseases that have facial manifestation (herpes fever);
Taking such medications like aspirin, heparin etc. on the day before;
Side effects (resolvable);
Uncontrolled pareses: blepharoptosis, upper lip ptosis, facial asymmetry.


Important Safety Information!

Patients are required to read and sign the instruction sheet (INFORMED CONSENT). Photo-documenting prior to the procedures is a prerequisite. During the first two weeks it is necessary to keep the communication between the doctor and the patient with examination and following photo taken whenever necessary.
